Leadership. Its a big term with too many complications but giving a significant message in every field.
Lets just talk about Managerial Leadership.(statistics and critics are all referred to Pakistan)
Today our institutions are not well managed.About 70% of the institutions are not managed properly in Pakistan.Pakistan's govt. schools are mostly not given proper attention and this carelessness can prove havoc for Pakistan in the near future where our youth is going to perform their role in representing, governing and running the country.Discussing the issue of schooling system in rural areas of Pakistan what we see is the steps that govt. has taken are just not enough to handle the situation.
First lets just take a look at what steps govt has taken in recent years.
1.Free books(the practice is carried by Pakistan's govt from many past years)
2.Many new buildings are been built to improve ''education standards''
3.Syllabus content is revised annually.
Structural Flaws
1.Giving free books no doubt encourages the rural (poor)people for education but the books are not themselves going to teach the students. Our govt.needs to have a better staff for the teachers and these teachers should tested at a particular level. What a proper teacher should have is the style of conveying not the vast knowledge they posses.Teachers should have knowledge to clarify the dilemmas the student faces in the particular subject but what i`m trying to say is that the 'power of conveying' counts more for a teacher.
2.Changing or revising the syllabus content annually is the basic step but when we observe this practice done by our govt. is that publications just change the cover of the old book and increase the prices in market, naming it the 'new edition'
3.Building the schools is a very good step but what need is today is that are these institutions are producing good results.
Solution to the problems in accordance with the importance of Managerial Leadership:
The director academics should have a weekly report and training the teachers is also another important step.
What our education sector need is the 'One' person who know what would be the consequences of what he is doing. The 'one' who is always willing to improve the results. The'one' who analyse the situation ,takes advice of everybody and then take the right decision at the right time.
Similarly, the industrial sector of our country should be well managed in the same way of realizing our flaws and how are we going to improve them.this how we can improve our present in order for a secure future.
The geographical beauty and features makes the repute of the place.Pakistan's govt is not paying any kind of attention to manage its roads ,railways, forestry and many other important factors that makes a state confident on its basic ground.
Only improving these few basic grounds we can 'manage' ourselves better in future with less cost effective manner.
OK now ! I like your blog a lot ! :) Ok here's the thing:
ReplyDeleteIn govt schools where there are "teachers" and even though these teachers are PHDs or have the "conveying power", these teachers just dont consider it worthwhile to teach the students and you know why? here's the reason because there is no check and balance and our people are so lame as we all know it that given the job security, they wont bother about the job or working hard because the JOB is secured and the money is flowing in no matter you teach or not...
Usman i loved your view ..and thats the thing that we dont have a proper system ...its all about management in here.!:)
